Trauma Informed Practices for Early Childhood Educators and Leaders

Julie Kurtz, Co-Director of Trauma Informed Practices for Early Childhood Education (TIP-ECE) at WestEd will present for us on Trauma Informed Practices. At WestEd, they have created 17 TIP-ECE modules. We will receive highlights throughout the day from key modules beginning with an overview of trauma and the impact of traumatic stress on children’s development. Next, we will identify trauma sensitive practices in leadership, supervision and organizational systems. We will travel to the home-school connection and discover strategies to engage families as well as a range of community members in trauma sensitive ways to strengthen protective factors, heal and build resiliency. We will end the day with a highlight of racial equity and social justice looking at it through a trauma-informed lens.
